Winter means cold, snow, ice and hot chocolate (at least I think so) to a good portion of the mainland. Here its all about the rain, wind and surf/craft advisories, with some snow. Haleakala (on Maui) was covered in snow and the national park was closed for several days last week. This week, rain and flooding are a concern. Where we live (leeward side of Ohau) there's generally less rain, more sun and warmer temps than other parts of the island. So, we've had some rain, but mostly just clouds. The article below talks about the weather here:

The weather back "home" is driving us nuts... Yesterday I took a walk with Madeline in the 75 degree weather, and I had to maneuver her stroller around three foot piles of snow. Yes, snow and 75 degrees. Today... 35 and raining, tomorrow, back up to 50s. My head hurts from all the barometer changes.
I hear you friend! Rant on about the weather!
