Field Trip!

Scott had a 4 day weekend and so we went over to Kauai to explore for a few days. While the island is certainly more untouched than where we live, we lived it up by staying at the Mariott. It was a great weekend and we took a lot of pictures. I think I need to join Photographers Anonymous after taking at least 1 (usually more) of everything we saw. Luckily, I've spared you from most of our pictures, but as always it was hard to choose which ones to share! Although we weren't home for Easter, the weekend was still a success.

some equate it to the Grand Canyon on the mainland

.....Its been awhile

It was a rough day when they told me I had to fly to the Big Island for training. Well the training involved flying over the active volcano that was puring lava into the ocean. So here are a few pictures from that wonderful day.

Hot Lava going into the ocean!!

Just a little closer!!!

Becky wearing my flight helmet!!! I think she looks like a storm trooper from Star Wars!!

Ok, well I guess I do too!!
Anyways we have more pictures from when Emily was here and I should have more soon from the volcano "training".

Random....

I've been meaning to post these as well....they didn't quite fit in the last post so I thought I'd do a separate post. We completed the Aloha run Mon. Feb. 18th -- it was 8.1 miles and we ran it the whole way with a pace of 9:05/9:10 -- faster than we anticipated! We ran with approximately 20,000 of our closest friends, started on time, and finished on the turf in Aloha Stadium. Those long runs on the weekends paid off!

The second picture is of our art project. Its been done for a little while, we just haven't taken any pictures of it until now. Thought we'd add some color by painting it instead of staining it.

Finished!

A few more....

Here are a few more pictures from the week Scott's dad and Sue were here per a viewer request. There isn't much else new going on -- Scott returns from Seattle this Saturday and Emily comes the same day to hang out with us during her spring break, which we're looking forward to.

Whales Galore

Scott's dad and Sue are visiting with us for a week. We've been out and about seeing the sites, taking pictures and eating as much shaved ice as we can ;-) Yesterday we went on a sunset whale watching adventure on a catatmaran on the North Shore. We were incredibly lucky and saw some whales that got up close and personal. It was more than we expected to see -- our captain even pulled out his video camera. Picture taking was a challenge, but we gave it our best shot and Scott brought the video camera along. Below are a few pictures and video from our trip -- you can just tune out the 'human' voices you hear on the video! Its a bit long and hold onto your sea legs, but you can really see that pictures sometimes don't do them justice.

Look at that tail!

Splash!

Hey there!

Wow.....

Look out....whale spit coming through....
