Kaena Point

Sunday we took a drive up the Wainaie coast to Kaena Point to look for some whales. We never saw any, but here are some pictures from our adventure. The rest of the day consisted of an exciting trip to the commissary and working on our art project, of which we'll post some pictures -- we're almost complete with the new addition. Until then, have a good week!

On the road again....

Almost there....

Uh oh -- its not paved! Oh....guess we'll take the Jeep anyway...

We made it

Monoa Falls Hike

Last weekend we hiked the Manoa Falls trail. We were rained upon, bit by mosquitos, slipped around in the mud and navigated around rocks/tree roots to get to the waterfall. Despite being muddy and itchy, the relatively short hike was well worth it and there was lots to see.

We're back!

Well, we're back in Hawaii after a few weeks in St.L celebrating the holidays. After Scott got home from work yesterday afternoon we took the camera and my new tripod/polarizer to a small beach near the lagoons to have some fun. Below are only a few that we ended up with, its always hard to choose which ones to share...though in a place like this its not to hard to take some pretty pictures! Emily -- the last one is for you courtesy of Scott and the Denver airport -- enjoy!
Some of the most interesting were after the sun went down.....

And another....

Little variation....

Pineapples like Christmas too.....

Happy Holidays!!!!  We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday celebration.  Scott is occupied with his new gift of guitar hero and will be for some time to come...so if he doesn't answer his phone, that's why.  We've been busy since we've been home, but we hope to find some more time for family/friends among the Wii playing, picture taking and dvd watching. Below is a picture Emily sent some time ago that's been put up today for some Christmas cheer.  A Hawiian pineapple is decorated and ready to celebrate!!  Of course that was about a month ago, so we can't say for certain where the pineapple is today....

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas......

We've had a few decorations up during December and are looking forward to more decorating and Christmas fun in just a short time with our friends/family in St.Louis -- we're on one of three planes early tomorrow!!!!

Our lovely assembly required tree with a few ornaments
(love the stars Em!)

Sometimes we open and close the door just to smell the wreath...

Our solar powered snowman by the driveway...

Let It Snow!!!!

We've looked up the recent snowfall on the internet in and around St. Louis...we've had beautiful weather today, sunny warm and in the mid-80s. In December no less...but we admit we're a bit jealous of the snow...we'd love to go outside and build a snowman and have some hot chocolate (it doesn't quite seem appropriate here in Hawaii). We'll have to be content with wearing shorts and t-shirts and grilling outside for dinner (and watch St.L news over the internet)...but we hope that everyone is enjoying those flakes and getting into the holiday spirit! ...and, only a few days till we're home! (though we see its going to be into the 40's ... so maybe we're already starting to send some warmer weather...at least we'd like to think so)
